Carrie Johnson, M.D. Ph.D., is a board-certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine physician specializing in Cancer Pain Management. She received her B.S. degree in biology with distinction from Duke University in 2001. She continued at Duke for her medical and graduate training, earning a Ph.D. in Molecular Cancer Biology. Dr. Johnson completed her Anesthesiology Residency at Duke, and then pursued her fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She joined Carolinas Pain Institute in 2015.
Dr. Johnson is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, and is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the Cancer Pain Research Consortium. Her interests include multi-modal treatment of cancer pain, targeted drug delivery and other interventional pain therapies.
